I need to tap into some of the expertise here, because I'm too lazy to do the extensive search I'd need to do. I have a "Military" I picked up more than afew years ago. It says "Military" on the blade, G10 handle and S30V. It has been my go-to knife for years...when there's a hard job around the house or an anticipated cutting job away from home, I grab it and it rides along in a belt sheath Gary (G2 here) made for it. ("Buzzbait's" long ago review was responsible for my initial purchase and, in my experience, dead on and one of the best I've ever read. Sal should send him a Military every year for that review!)

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting another Military and am wondering what choices are available that I should look at. And while I was considering that, I started to wonder how many issues of the Military there have been?

Appreciate any help based on the preceding paragraph and I always enjoy comments about the knives! Thanks,
Gargs

I'm just gonna pipe in and say that my CF S90V Millie is my favorite knife I've ever owned... ..not necessarily the CF or S90V part though. I like it better than the SnG CC and Lg Seb. It's just an amazing tool, and better at simply being a knife than others I've had. It's great in the pocket, and incredible in the hand. In fact, it is the most "sure-handed" knife I've owned. I can't say enough good things about it. I don't like to use my knives for unnecessary stuff like cutting a bunch of cardboard, but I have used it for my EDC purposes including kitchen use, cutting cord, tubular webbing, cam straps, and stuff.. OK.. I guess I DID slice up an REI X-mas catalog I got in the mail. Being S90V, mine is not SUPER sharp... but I imagine it is made with more of a "working" edge.. It definitely cuts paper like butter, but its just not "scary" sharp... which is a good thing since I've had a few close calls toying with it, which definitely would have sliced me had it been a knife I touched up myself. ...only bummer is that I can't use my sharpmaker on it.. I'm gonna have to invest in special rods to sharpen it.

I wish there were a Millie identical size of the Para, but with a liner lock.. I don't like the way the tang sticks out on the para...I reckon it's due to the compression lock needing space in the handle.

I love my CF millie. Current models I know of (and can still be found for a reasonable price):
Blade color/steel/edge configuration/handle material/extra

Black S30V PE/CE/SE G-10 NO "Military" on the blade
Satin S30V PE/CE/SE G-10 NO "Military" on the blade
Satin BG-42 PE CF NO "Military" on the blade
Satin S90V PE CF NO "Military" on the blade
Satin S30V PE/CE?/SE? Digital Camo G-10 NO "Military" on the blade

I'd like to say the the Para is a knife I've wanted to get, but I did notice that the tang does protrude a bit from the handle. :(

The Military is an excellent knife. I edc it constantly when I know there is going to be big-er jobs. (Camp outs mostly). It's got an amazing handle "grip" to it as well.

Archieblue I agree with your assessment of the Military and Josh, thanks for the list I was looking for. I also have a para, but in that personal way knives have, it just doesn't "work" for me like the Military. It'll find a nice home at Christmas with my good friend. And to celebrate that same holiday, I just may get one of those digi-camos for myself!

How about that D2 Military? I think Dozier's D2 is exceptional and sets the standard for that steel. Anybody have any using/sharpening experience with the D2 Military? I don't expect a comparison with Bob's given the price difference...but are the Spyderco D2 users satisified?

I'm very satisfied but I can't get it dull enough to justify even a touch up! It just keeps going and going like that pink bunny!
