• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Military knife sharpeners

I know of no knife sharpeners issued to individual soldiers. That kind of thing would be at the detachment or company level. I only remember a stone in the #1 Common tool set in my maintenance unit, but a combat unit may not even have that.

Basically, you have what you brought.

The standard issue pilot knife comes with a small stone in a pouch on the sheath. It is fairly coarse and small. I've never used it so I'm not sure how well it works.

I've seen almost as many broken l'il stones as whole ones in the issue bolt knives. The only other one I've seen in official use on the personal level is a circular coarse stone. Not a bad one for a survival situation, but if you like your knives arm-shaving sharp, use soemthing else.
