Liner lock leaf on the Mil is creeping closer and closer to the far side of the tang. When it finally hits g10 on the other side is it a problem/how much to send it back and have a new leaf put in? I know these things wear, its inevitable, just curious what to do down the road. Thanks, jeff

Jeff - If it should go all of the way over, you can return it to us for re adjustment of the adjustable pivot.

It does take a special tool. It also gives us an opportunity to "check out the whys and wherefores" of the wear.

Jeff.
I have a few questions about your Military.
Does it have the 3 hole clip?
Does the choil on the blade have finger grips [small cutouts]?
How long have you hade the knife?
We would be happy to adjust it for you,I would also like to find out what wore [stop pin, linner ect].
Have a good day.
Vince.

Interesting thread.

I got my Military a week ago. When I first inspected it the liner seemed to rest about one third of the way over on the blade tang. Now it seems to lock open at a little over half way. I have taken to "flicking" the knife open. Is that wrong? Should I be concerned about the change in position of the liner locking position in so short a time? By the way, this is an ATS-34 blade with grip notches in the finger choil and three screws in the pocket clip.

Sal and Vince, its the "new" model, right after you started the 3-screw clip. Had it about a year. No grooves on the choil. Its not the pivot tension either (I stay on top of that), it doesn't get slung open, the stop pin looks mint all the way around; the liner is just wearing from the friction. At least I assume its the liner. The 440V tang shouldn't be wearing down from a spring-hardened leaf. Got a Terzuola ATCF that rotates with the Mil for my daily carry and its doing the same thing. I play with them a LOT though. No biggie, like I said. Just curious down the road as to procedures to have the leaf replaced when the time comes. Its simply wearing down. All liner locks seem to have this one drawback, and I apparently accelerate the process ;-). I know Bob T will take care of the ATCF, but the Mil is the first prod liner lock that I have liked enough to not simply "retire". Thanks for the concern, jeff

Jeff & ptn.
About 2 years ago we changed the lock ramp on the blade of the Military which makes the linner lock up tighter and reduces the ware factor on the linner.
If either of you are not happy with the lockup please send it back to Spyderco attn Vince Ford. I would be happy to adjust them for you.
I am not shure these knives have the new ramp.
Thanks and have a good day.
Vince.

I have had my Mil since January this year (new type - no grooves in the choil) and the liner still sits in the same position on the tang where it was when I got it. The tang has a rather aggressive "ramp" and I would be very supprised if the liner on this knife ever got to the opposite scale.

I just got my Military this week, but I've been flicking it like nobody's business. Ha! It's a wonderful knife. I noticed a ramp on the tang, too. It appears that the liner will never make it to the G10. After getting a Wegner Jr. and now this Military, I'm totally sold on Spyderco!
