Military on the way!

I'l have my 204p millie tomorrow afternoon. I'll post as much useful info I can towards turning it into tip up carry.

But I'll be machining the parts I need from titanium. I want to keep the lanyard hole useable if possible.

Lately it just feels weird carrying any other knife in my pocket other than a Military. I had a Native5 on me yesterday and it by itself just wasn't doing it for me. So I added a Military to the mix and suddenly all was good again.

The Military is the best folder that Spyderco makes IMO. For my uses and likes anyway...

First, I'm only doing a rough mockup. I'm NOT leaving it this way!

But I'm pumped the pocket clip will work with little modification. I will make a titanium screw and nut. And I will have a lanyard!

But for those who aren't machinists. A 1/4 Chicago screw should work. A 1/4-20 screw and nut will work also, but look horrible like the pic.

Got it!

Came home today after a day trip to Arches National Park with the family and found the Military in the mailbox.

Holy Handle! Feels good in the hand, but the blade seems quite small compared to the scales. Seems good in the pocket, tip down only is no problem. Very light too. Lockup is very good.

Based on my research on YouTube, I believe this knife is legitimate based on the liner lock finish, blade to scales fit, backspacer machining marks, and foam to box fit in the packaging.

The aftermarket scales (Putnam) are well done. I’ll try and add some pictures if I can figure out how.

That handle to blade ratio always seems off to anyone the first time they handle a millie. Then after you use it for a while it wont seem weird at all. It will end up being just right

I've always felt that the blade size on the Military was perfect for it's handle.

The PM2 blade , on the other hand , not so much.

Ok, so I went out and whittled some hard dry cottonwood. My opinion of the handle size is quickly changing. It is very comfortable in either a full grip or chocking up on the choil.

It is so thin that it rides well in the front pocket despite being large.

The thin blade slices better than any knife I’ve owned too. This may be a keeper!

For a fuller assessment you'd probably need to share the clip side and a closeup of the tang and jimping, but everything I know to check for that's shown in your photo looks good.

If there's no kerning error in the clip-side tang stamp (it should be "U.S.A. Earth," not "U.S.A.Earth") and the top jimping looks like a little stairway, those would be two other points in favor of this being legit. But off the cuff, it looks legit.

And one of the clip side of the blade:

I’m liking this G10. It’s grippy but not abrasive. Think it will be easy on the jeans too. And ANYTHING other than camo for the nasty, thick country I chase elk in...
