Military or ParaMilitary or Police?

Jack, that´s a great collection of the Police Modell. Congratz on these!

Thanks for sharing!

Kind regards
Andi

If you are concerned about price the Endura is a great knife for work use and it is light weight(about 3.6 oz.s). The knife now comes in black with a full flat ground blade and it is about half the cost of most of the knives discussed. If money was not a concern I would pick the Military, it is a great knife, large, but light.

I've got all 3. They're all great knives.

The Police 3 is a big knife. It's slightly bigger than the Military, but much slimmer. It does not have as much blade belly as the Military.

The Para is a great edc size and I find the compression lock easy to manipulate with one hand. Same thing applies for the Militarys linerlock.

You can't really go wrong with any one of the 3.

Don't forget the Endura though. It's similar to the Police, especially if you get the G-10 handled one. Although I prefer the zytel, as its much easier on the pockets than G-10. It's got the same steel but lacks a choil.

Thank you guys, for the new replies.

I´m still thinking about which knife to get. But I tend to the ParaMilitary2. The Para2 is the so called 2010 version. It should be even slimmer than the "regular" version. The blade steel is called to be S30V. But on all the versions I´ve seen, it´s CPM S30V. Maybe just a mistake by the retailer. It should be the simple version with black G10 and a uncoated blade - I don´t like coatings.

I´ve already looked at the Endura, but I already own the Delica 4. Somehow, I don´t get warm on the FRN handles on the Delica. The G10-version on the PM2 seems to be just nicer.

As already said, just my personal "tend", no specification already.

Thanks for all the advices and information :)

Kind regards

Humppa, Count 1 more vote for the Paramilitary 2. I have the black g10/satin blade plane ol' PM2. In terms of pocketablility and utility for the price, You can't get much better in my opinion. Also, most are very solid and lock up really tight, nice centering and no blade play. I am not sure if those things matter to a traditional knife aficionado like yourself but they do to me. I recently bought a Sebenza and the only test for me to tell me it was "worth it" was whether or not I want to carry it instead of my Paramilitary 2. It is still a tight race :) The PM2 is that good.

"CPM" is Crucible Powder Metals or something like that, it is the company that makes S30V steel. Spyderco identifies it by brand to give credit where it is due, others simply call it S30V.

Have police 3, military and para 2 , para 2 at present time gets most action. Faron

Heres another pic of the 3 knives you asked about.

By the way, have you considered the about to be released Spyderco Ulize? It was designed by german custom maker Ulrich Hennicke. The name Ulize comes from Ulrich and Polizei.

If i recall correctly its in the size range as the Police.

Thank you, Prop!

I haven´t ever seen the Ulize before. But it doesn´t seem to be available in Germany. None of the retailers have them in stock or able to order them from overseas. I think, the PM2 is the best decision for my needs. The Military and Police seem to be a little big (in length). I personally tend to buy smaller knives, maybe comes from my obsession to traditional knives ;)

Have a nice sunday, gentlemen!

Kind regards

i find the endura as ideal an EDC as one can hope for. from there you can imagine me trying out a police next. i just can't see the police as something to work with (but why not? i haven't tried.) as a policeman you might want to consider the serrated version.

I just wanted to reactivate that thread... no necromancy ;)

I´ve been looking for the PM2 for almost a couple of months without being able to get it. They were sold out in whole Euope
Yesterday I got a phonecall by the german main-retailer/importer for Spyderco and she told me, the PM2 is now available :D

I ordered that one immediately and hope to get it during next week (hopefully this week) - I´ll update here with some posts and first impressions.

Thanks for all your help. The thread didn´t die - it was just very hard to get the PM2 here in Germany.

Thanks R-D!

I´m already looking forward getting that knife. I think, it will make a great EDC.

Thanks to all the guys (and gals) on Spyderco subforum here on BFC for your great advices. BTW: I just used a UKPK in CTS-BD1 to remove a wood split out of my thumb ;) That knife came razorsharp ootb, but after some leather strop it was hairwhittling sharp. I´m alread curious about the S30V at sharping :)

Paramilitary 2. The compression lock is the best part of the knife. Smoothest, strongest, most reliable, easy to operate, and just plain fun to play with
