Trying to decide between the two prefer large blade dont know what i will think of the compression lock any help

You've got to get them in your hand.
I have big hands, but for me the Mili just offers a little wasted space; the PM2 fits like a glove.
On a fixed blade, I'd probably lean toward the larger handle. But for a knife that's going to ride in my pocket every day, I didn't care for the extra length.
I know others do NOT feel the same way.
Both offer plenty of blade for my daily use needs.

The Compression lock took me about 3 tries to get used to. Now, it's my favorite lock, and it takes me an extra second to close my liner- and frame-locks because I turn 'em over first.
I love that it's tough, takes little pressure to operate, and I don't need to pass a digit in front of the blade to close.
My pivot is loose enough that to close I gently squeeze the lockbar, and can use gravity for the rest, but tight enough not to woble or open inadvertantly.
The handle/blade/spydiehole dimensions are perfect for easy, smooth opening every time.

my 2 cents.
Good luck with your decision.

Can't go wrong with either, and they are my favorite two Spyderco's.
Just go with which size you want the most.

Glad I don't have to choose, but if I had to i would go with the Military.
There are other 3.5" blades I'll carry, but the Millitary is the only folder with a 4" blade that I would carry.
Its very light for a 4" folder, and the large handle gives you a few grip options.

I'd go with the Military over the Para. I like the extra blade length and am not a fan of the compression lock.

Military here. The compression lock is okay but the liner on the military is what I prefer. Plus, there's a mechanical feel to the PM2 that I just can't warm up to. I also have a very visceral feel with the military. I can't explain it but it just seems right in my hand.

short answer- both.
I'd go millie first due to current pm2 shortage driving up pm2 prices. Economics must be at play in your decision or you would be buying both simultaneously.

Or go to a local knife shop and try them both (assuming they actually have pm2 in stock

The military is a much bigger knife. if you get a lowrider clip on it, the knife will still disappear in your pocket. I really like both but if i pull out my military in front of people i always get a "holy sh*t" reaction.

Millie has a massive handle which aids to its perception as a BIG knife. I live in Texas and carry a BM710 (about the same blade size; 3.9 inches) and most of my friends think its a big knife, but its not like a "holy shit" reaction from them. However a Military is a "holy shit" reaction. I would go with a PM2 first then if you want something bigger get a Millie.

Millie. I don't like the blade to handle ratio on the PM2, plus it doesn't fit my hand. YMMV.

thanks for all the help guys i probably will be getting both at some point i might go military first since its eaiser to find right now and if anybody ihas one they dont use anymore and might be looking to get rid. of maybe we could work out a trade millerlogan69@gmail.com

Hands down MILITARY! I have had 4 PM2s. I kept getting rid of them because I didn't like them/couldn't warm up to it. Each time I got rid of one I would continue to read how amazing they were and I convinced myself each time that I needed to get another one because maybe I was missing something. Each time I would get it I would scratch my head and think "wtf - I still don't get it." Recently bought the Military and I truly feel it reigns supreme over all over knives (including the Sebenza and Endura 4 - which I always felt were THE best of the best).

If I really had to choose between the two, I'd go with the Military. That said, I've had about 5-6 different models of both, but as it stands currently I only have one PM2 left and still 4 Militaries.

Ti Millie! Framelock with SS insert. Not reliant on G10.

I had both and have to say that I prefer the para 2 but you said you like the larger blades so I'd go with the Millie...

for extended use the military's handle is very comfortable. for edc and light use, pm2 for me.
