military or pm2

I like them both, but recently the Military is finally starting to "shrink" for me, which is when it stops seeming so big and starts feeling perfect.

I'd wait a little while and pick up the Cruwear Military sprint run that's coming.

PM2. Great size for EDC in Sunday slacks or job site carhartts. Compression lock is super smooth opening, tight locking, ambi friendly. I've had a PM2 in my pocket for just over a year, had some knives on EDC rotation, stopped rotating when I got the PM2.
Here at the knife exchange never see one last more than an hour, and the sprint runs go for 150% of retail most times.

I vote with Joe. I love the PM/PM2 and have many more of it than of the Military, but the Military has the most superb ergos. It is in fact the only knife I will take with me in cold weather.

Can't go wrong with either, and they are my favorite two Spyderco's.
Just go with which size you want the most.

Glad I don't have to choose, but if I had to i would go with the Military.
There are other 3.5" blades I'll carry, but the Millitary is the only folder with a 4" blade that I would carry.
Its very light for a 4" folder, and the large handle gives you a few grip options.

get the military.

for me, the two carry identically as I clip it inside my waistband and the little bit of length doesn't affect how it feels, yet the Millie offers so much more knife.

While the pm2 is a brilliant knife, nothing can be on the Millie's level of perfection.

I also find the 3.5" size to be a sort of no man's land size for me. Obviously this is all based on what you use it for, but I find around 3" is perfect for most Edc type uses, but when you need some extra length the half inch seems to make no major impact for me, whereas the 4" will tackle things like food prep to much more effect.

I don't leave the house without my PM2. I carry 3 knives total. 2 folders and one fixed blade :)

If you're a Axis guy...go PM2 compression lock. Mil is liner lock. I have the PM2 and very satisfy....I just cannot get used to liner lock, placing thumb onto blade track

I bought the PM2 first and then a short time later I got a Millie. Both in matching digicam with black blades.
The PM2 just seemed too small to me to inspire confidence in handling any real demanding tasks, although the ergonomics and overall feel, weight and design of the knife are outstanding. Even the G10 of the PM2 was a bit grippier than the identical Millie, (at least that's how it was with my particular specimens). I really liked that grippier feel.

The Millie gave me much more confidence and the elongated presence of that sweeping four inch blade goes to the core like an extension of one's personality and individuality (at least that's how I perceive it). Sorry if that makes no sense, haha.
Ultimately, I sold the PM2 and began carrying the Millie daily, which I now supplement with a rotation of several different ESEE fixed blades, i.e. Izula II, DPx HEST, 3MIL.

The PM2 and Millie are the only 2 Spydies I've ever owned and the only 2 Spydies I've ever even seen or held in person.
I can tell they make some great cutting tools and I hope to someday own many more models.

im still trying to find a pm2, but they go so fast its ridiculous, plus im broke so that definitely does not help. I've had a Military before and no disrespect to Spyderco but it did not seem a very well built knife. Of course i was the second owner. Although i would not mind picking up a military and a pm2 to compare and review my stance on Millies.

get the military.........................

While the pm2 is a brilliant knife, nothing can be on the Millie's level of perfection.........

+1

The Military is the one knife that I've carried more than any other knife I own, or have owned. After some carry and use, the knife will 'shrink' in your hand and it simply disappears in your pocket. I'm not taking anything away from the Para 2, which I do like as well, but the Military is the ideal EDC for me.

Needless to say, you will eventually end up with both anyway. ;)

I don't have much experience with the Para2 but it seemed like it had strong leanings in the self-defense direction. I looks very workman-like because it isn't overly long but the smoothness of the pivot and the ease of the lock make it a kind of "flick knife" imo. I found that with it in the waistband I could squat down without the length interfering with my movements --again a plus for s/d.
The Millie is sometimes too long in the waistband (in the back when I'm sitting it can get dislodged, in the front it can interfere with my movements) but I really enjoy having it with me. It often gets carried along with a smaller, more NKP friendly knife. I recently noticed that having the tightness of the pivot dialed up a fair bit seems to suit the personality of the knife, it makes the knife more dignified. It's not a pit bull like the Para2. The knives may be siblings but definitely not twins. I hope to get my hands on another Para2 sometime in the future.

I got the Military... but you know how it goes...
Now I want a PM2 :D
Nomatter how much I love my Military

I have only milie but, I tried pm2 too for awhile(not my), and I think pm2 is better. Better lock, the handle fits great in hand and there is no significant difference in blade length for usual edc tasks. Some day I'll buy pm2, but I don't regret that I bought military first cuz its great knife as well.

Who knew? Thanks for that. (Really, I'm not being sarcastic, I would not have guessed they were so close.) Funny thing, the eye; easily misled.

You've got a better eye than me! ;)

blade:handle

Mili = .727
Para2 = .714

Difference of .013

I had a Para. I couldn'd get size of the blade(too short for me) or the handle shape(not long enough without using the choil). I know the PM2 has ergo shaped handle and little

bit longer cutting edge. I have 3 Millies and really like the Millie a lot. Much better blade lenght and a great handle. I like big knives. I consider the PM2 a medium size knife.

For me it's the Millie.

Para 2 def for me handle fits perfect bests size for normal EDC task just my two cents. Love the compression lock hands down best locking mechanism

I have both and carry my milli the most ,fits me better and to me I have not found a big blade that will carry as nicely

Trying to decide between the two prefer large blade dont know what i will think of the compression lock any help

They are both excellent designs and well made. I own several of both and think they excel at cutting tasks. Spyderco knives are all about the cut.
