Agree with all of the others. That time in my life is a complete blur and knives were definitely not a priority. If anything they'd be a distraction because of always having to make sure it wasn't stolen or confiscated, etc. I also remember having on the spot uniform inspections where we weren't supposed to have anything in our pockets aside from our ID and some money inside of a small wallet. Inside our bags we werent allowed to have anything other than books, writing utensils, paper, and some water. Boot camp will be an obvious no, during your tech school you will probably be allowed after the school day is over, and after all your training is done and you're in your assigned to a unit then you can probably get away with carrying a knife on duty. I did all the time. The only real exception to that I can think of is if the training command explicitly approves it or if they issue you one.
