As a new Military Man, I do have a couple of questions.
1. As my Military is the older model (two screw clip, extra length on the choil, but it *is* CPM 440V

) what is the material used in the bushings?
2. The clip does not have the "Spyder" on it- can one be bought/ bartered/ had for it?
3. Compared to other liner locks I have owned/ played with/ drooled over, the action seems a little tight, almost but not quite "jerky". Any suggestions?
Lastly, I am *quite* impressed with this knife- it is my second Spyderco in as many months, and it kick's ass. I am even getting used to the fact that it is tip down. (I prefer tip up, but on this knife, tip down works quite well.)
Thanks, everyone at Spyderco.

In response to your questions:

1) I believe the washers used in the Military are very thin ones, made from some sort of plastic. Though they cannot be seen, they are in there!

2) Clip - does yours have a two screw attachment to the knife? If so, probably not because it appears that Spydie made the C36's clips back then by cutting away the top mounting hole to allow for close attachment to the pivot pin. Of course, if you are handy with a Dremel, you can easily modify one of the newer clips

3) Try loosening the pivot just a little and applying some lube like Tuf-Glide or Rem-Oil. This should slicken it up a bit.

Hope this info helps!

Thanks, Dex- I'll try the lube angle. Yeah, mine has the two screw clip.
Now, a question for Sal and/or Danelle- could I send in my Military (old style, CPM 440V) for a new style clip retrograde/ upgrade/ refit? (Please, please, please!!!)
A clip w/ the Spyder on it would be extremely cool, but not necessary.
Again, thank you Spyderco.

I was told that the washers in Spyderco knives were made of Mylar and are very thin.

The washers or bearings or whatever you want to call them are VERY thin. They look kind of like pieces of photographic film. This is on my Old Model ATS34 Military.

This probably isn't any more help, but I've taken apart a couple of old Militaries and a Cricket. They all had very thin washers of a translucent reddish-amber substance.

I'm going to guess they are nylatron (sp?) washers. Maybe if Vince has time before the Blade Show he will tell us. I bet Danelle can get it out of him.

I'll try, but he's gonna make that weird noise and roll his eyes and walk out of my office for 5 minutes then come back in and give me an answer....I'll let you know what I find out.

Hey, bug him about the saber-ground G-10 Police models while you're at it, OK? Let's see if we can roll his eyes all the way around

Ok here I am.
The washers on the C25-50-55-36 are made of a material called Kapton, yes they are thin .0035" thk.
Sorry for the delay, working on all the new good stuff for Blade Show.
Vince.
