Regular Army, 1960-63 (Ft.Dix, NJ; Ft. Gordon, GA; Camp Howze, S.Korea; Ft.Holabird, MD; Ft.Bragg, NC.) Picture here is at Camp Howze, 1st Cavalry Division, 61-62, South Korea (just south of the DMZ):
I'm shouldering an M-1 .30-06, my helmet hanging on the muzzle (we could do that kind of crap back then ) That tin quonset hut in back is the barracks we lived in, summer and winter. Back then, the 1st Cav was the only combat-ready division in the US Army. Never saw any combat then, but occasionally the red flag went up and we were handed out ammunition.
