Military-Spec Knives

Randall Model 14 and an SAK Swiss Champ, in all honesty the SAK was used 100 times more than the Randall....both served me well since 1987.

Submarine vet here: I carried a Gerber multi-tool. Didn't know how to sharpen and didn't take good care of it.

Cold Steel . Moderate price , high value , near indestructible .

I've carried a lot of knives over the years, usually as mission and trends change.
-I went to Desert Storm and Mog with an Ek Bowie and Gerber multitool.
-Carried a Spyderco in garrision since the mid 90's.
-Benchmade Nimravus and SOG multitool through Bosnia, Haiti, and HOA.
-Bark River Bravo for a while in OIF/OEF
-CS Kukri while doing remains recovery in Vietnam.
-Since being full-time SERE and Personnel Recovery, I've been testing and rotating through countless COTS knives. I pretty much swap out every few days or have students/staff use something and provide feedback. The only constant is the SOG multitool and the Leatherman Raptor on my plate carrier.

Had a guy at work who carried a crkt m16 in Iraq. He figured out I was into knives and brought it in and that thing was thrashed... Held together with paracord at this point, said the barrel spacers fell out at some point out there. Crkt sent me basically all new hardware and I put his knife back together good as new. He was pretty excited to say the least.

I deployed to Desert Shield/Storm with a Gerber BMF, and an Endura. The Endura handled all cutting tasks while the BMF never left the sheath. Oh....I also had an issued M7 bayonet that never left the seabag.

Those are beautiful knives... Thanks for sharing them! What’s the name of that Buck knife?

I’m assuming you’re talking about the Spyderco Endura—great knife all around! Those M7s seem like they would be somewhat unwieldy for regular use...
