I will be at Jamestown Colonial Park, near Williamsburg, Virginia, on the weekend of March 15 & 16, 2003, for their annual Military though the Ages living history festival. If you have any interest at all in virtually any period of military history, there is bound to be something there to interest you, from we Saxon Settlers* of Britain in the sub-Roman period, perhaps some earlier groups, up through the NATO and Russian peace-keepers in Bosnia and Kosovo. The Russian re-enactoprs even had a "Krinkov", the short version of the AK-74, IIRC, it was just after I got out of the hospital, so I am unsure of that, but I seem to remember seeing it. There are all sorts of other groups, the Ostvik Viking group's women staged a strandhog and abducted a couple of the young men from the Virginia National Guard Recruiting Site set up every year, but their Lieutenant was able to negotiate their release without violence, good fun all around. And that was on Saturday, when it didn't rain. Don't ask about Sunday.
If you make it by, stop in at the Saxon Camp, up by the Fort, and say, "Hi", and visit. Lots of blades to keep you occupied.
* You know, like we of European extraction "settled" the Americas in the 16th - 19th Centuries.
