Military versions

Lately I've been considering getting a Spyderco Military, and weighing its reviews against the Manix and Benchmade 710.

I still have some reserves regarding the lock strength and the fragility of the tip, otherwise all I've been reading is pointing me towards the Millie...

One thing still confuses me, though:

What's the user feedback regarding different Military versions? G10/S30V, BG42/CF, rumours about a D2 coming out?

Any opinion is welcome, as are links to on-line knife selling shops willing to ship to Europe (Portugal), as the sole distributor of Spydies around here is charging over 250 euros for a Military, without even being able to identify it's steel...

Unless you plan to routinely beat people to death with the spine of the blade, the lock on the Military is plenty strong. Use it like a folding knife should be used and you will never have a problem with it.

The tip isn't all that thin compared to some of my favorite knives. It is thick and blunt compared to a C-50. Use it for a knife and not a screwdriver, crowbar or axe and there is no reason to worry about the tip.

The rumors of a CPM D2 version are more than that, a few pieces are already in the hands of testers, and I am waiting as patiently as I can for the rest of the run to be released. Hopefully, it won't be much longer.

I am araid I can't help with a comparison of the different versions, as I only have the BGCF version. I like G-10, I like S30V, I just haven't picked up a regular production Military yet. I do love the BGCF version, and I carry it three times as much as I carry my Manix. I haven't carried my 710 at all in over a year, and probably never will again.
