Military vs Endura g10 - comparision request

I like my Military alot. Nuff said it replaced my sebenza as EDC. The only thing I would like to change is the lock and fragile tip (thought I haven't manage to damage it anyhow).

Recently I started to think about new companion (while waiting for the Police3 ;) ) and naturally Endura g10 came into my mind. May I ask for some comparision pictures of both knives ? I am mostly interested about how durable seems the tip of the full flat grind Endura ?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Vince...

I like my Millie, and I like big knives. But I too, don't like the lock. Its too big too easy too... something

I also like my Endura's. I was very sad when my G10 Endura turned out to be (barf) foliage green.
I am not exactly the biggest fan of foliage green. __winky face_

I was concerned about the original thin VG-10 blade on my G10 handled Endura, so I swapped out the VG-10 blade with a ZDP-189 Endura blade, which has the redesigned thicker tip. I would venture to say it's a stronger knife than either the Military or Police model.

I also put the flat ground VG-10 blade in the left over green FRN Endura handle, and now I have a very light knife that slices like no other. I have to admit, though I really wanted the ZDP blade in the G-10 handle, I find myself carrying the FRN Endura with the flat ground blade a lot, because it's so light and is such an excellent slicer.

Thanks for the photos clockwork. Now I see that the pit of Endura is even more fragile then Military. I probably stick to millie for the moment... maybe I should buy the CF model do match my FG and G10 millies as well :)

Gee, I use my S90V Military for a drywall knife. You know, things like cutting out damaged sheetrock hung on steel studs, scraping off old paint, texture, mud, tape and occasional plaster, cleaning the same stuff out of phillips head screw slots so I can back them out, that sort of thing. The tip is still intact. In fact, it is positively chunky compared to what I had Tom Krein take a ZDP Endura down to. I wouldn't call it fragile. Granted, it isn't a crowbar, but it is far from delicate.

shangchi108, I'm not surprised at all that you carry your flat grind FRN more than the ZDP/G-10. I guess that means you aren't planning to sell it to me.;)

Go ahead and get the G10 Endura, you will love it, I am a Military model nut myself but as stated in another thread my two favorite spyderco's are Military BG-42/CF and My G10 Endura with full flat grind. I like it so much that I have decided when funds are available to get another one as a back up.

I'm not allowed to sell knives here, and I wouldn't even try it.

You are, however, allowed to look at my profile and send me messages, just to commiserate about the unfairness of things.

I must say that after reading about fragility and tendency to wrapping of CF handles I was sceptical about the CF Military (though the new steel is tempting - I only hope that it rust resistance is higher then ZDP) but right now I consider buying it to complete my collection of 2 Millies (s30v, cpmD2).

All those pictures only make this thing worse, nuff said ;)

The S90V does resist corrosion better than ZDP-189 in my experience. The carbon fiber handle is light, stiff and strong. I carry mine in my back pocket, and it doesn't flex and hasn't warped. It has been dropped on concrete from eight feet in the air without damage. It isn't a hammer, but it isn't delicate either.

I like the the photo alot and envy you the collection of Millies. I should probably give a try to that CF version ;)
