Military vs. Police

Police was always too thin for me I dig the G10 version tho but don't have it anymore due to profile. The Millie is one of my top the all time favs although I am still adjusting to the newest variant. Liner locks are plenty strong most have wife tale myth problems with them. If you are using a knife for what it's designed for a liner should never fail you.

I like the police 3 better for it's ergonomics and size but I like the BG42 and S90V steel better than the VG10 in the police. I like lockbacks better though in this case the Millie probably has a stronger lock.

A sprint police in a super steel with the G10, and flat grind is what I've been waiting for.

It depends on the individual knives to some extent. For the most part, the Millies are easier to open, but the detent on my S90V/CF beater is extra strong, making it harder to open than any of my Police Models. I like it that way. ;)

Thanks. But why do you like them hard to open? For a work folder, I need a knife which I can open and close reliably with one hand. I like that attribute in a self defense folder as well.

The difficulty in opening my Police has kept it from being carried either for work or for SD. :(

+1! Or maybe, a CF Police with a solid ZPD-189 blade just like the Stretch.

Sal, are you listening?

go with mili. The lock can take alot more abuse. i love the police its hard to beat but i have had the lock fail on more than one of them. lock failure due to repeated fast and hard opening during training. we are talking 1000's of opening cycles before failure. i have yet to see mili fail. Police lock is prone to accedental opening in icepick grip also. last but not least sheeple do not look at mili as hard as police.

Peace of mind. I feel better knowing that the knife I think is closed really is closed. I've had half a dozen good knives open in my pockets over the years, and it hasn't gotten any more pleasant with repetition. I can still open and close the knife reliably with one hand, but it is the only liner lock I've ever handled that I would be comfortable carrying tip-up.

How much have you cycled it? My P3 was one of my toughest folders to open when I first got it, but I took it apart to polish the pivot area, then lubed it liberally, and after cycling it for a few weeks it made a world of difference.

I've always liked the idea of a CF/ZDP189 P3 because of how nice and thin the blade is. One of the reasons I carry the Millie so much is because of how well CPMD2 performs. VG10 is a great steel but I find the CPMD2 has it outclassed in everything but corrosion resistance. Put a patina on my Millie so it's a moot point.
