Military - Why no tip-up carry?

As I understand it the Military was an evolution of the Police model, which as you mentioned was tip-down only until the recent Police 3. We are seeing the same pattern with the Military, tip down until the newer model is released with 4-way options. The only thing keeping the status quo has probably been the consistent sales and popularity of the model hasn't required they change the clip options.

I'm curious to see how they'll do it without adding excessive weight or cost.

I'd love to see a tip-up Military. I always carry in RF pocket, so tip-up works for me. If you carry in Right Rear pocket, tip-down is great.
 
I'm a little surprised that no one has pointed this out yet, so I guess I will. Sal has answered this question a few times already. Bottom line is, the Military is an older design that has not yet been updated. When the Military 2 comes out, they're planning to ugly it up with a bunch of extra holes so you can put the clip wherever you want. ;)

But the Millie 2 is going to have a new lock right? I really like liner locks so this is kinda disappointing to me.
