Militec application question

I've searched and read through several Militec threads here and I found the very helpful instructions here. The author recommends several applications of Militec with drying time in between, but I'm unclear as to whether I should use the electrical wash before each application or only before the initial application. I'd imagine that you want to clean it every time, but I just want to make sure I'm not removing the previous Militec coating each time I clean the joint.

Do not use the solvent before each application, just the first to make sure you've got any other lube off. If the knife has got dirty (not greasy) then hot water makes a good cleaner. If it is greasy then a solvent may be needed.
Do use the hair dryer to heat the knife, and do use the hair dryer to heat the knife after the application as well.
As he says, multiple applications over a period of days or weeks will indeed work better. You only need a thin film on the joint so each application is probably less than a drop per knife.
My sample bottle has lasted me a couple of years so far, although my knives do get only light use.

Militec is the best lube I used. You should clean the joint and tang of the knife with alcohol to remove any dirt/film/residue from other lubes and then apply the Militec. I then put my knife in the oven for about 20 minutes at about 150 degrees. Actually what I do is after about 5 minutes I turn the oven off and just leave the knife in for another 15 minutes. This will not harm the temper of the knife. This way I don't have to keep the blowdryer going. Also, when repeating this procedure you can skip the alcohol but be sure the joint is clean. It takes about 3 treatments to be most effective. I read the link from Militec and comments on Gunscrubber. Gunscrubber is good cleaner but it will affect surfaces. It nearly melted the handles of SAK I was cleaning.
Good luck.

I meant to add Militec is not a rust preventive so I use Ballistol which is nontoxic. It is also great on knife handles of any type.
