Does anyone own both a miller brothers and a Busse knife?
I am looking to see if one is more durable than the other.
The videos on http://www.millerbrosblades.com/ are really Impressive, but I want to hear from someone that actually owns one and has put it through the tests.
Even if you only own a miller brothers blade I would like to hear from you.
I currently own several Busse's and can say they are very durable
The prices are about the same for both so if I were looking for a strong beater that is tough and corrosion resistant and has an edge that won't chip, which one would you choose?

Thanks for your input

I own both, and I'm currently carrying a MBB M7 as a go-bag knife with a David Brown one piece style sheath. The two piece sheath that the M7 comes with is ok, but for a smaller knife, the sheath was too big/wide. I also have a MBB M8 trench knife and it's a very fine purpose driven design that the Miller Brothers built when others would not. When I think of having something built I will always go to the Miller Brothers to see what they can do first. And 5160 is a very strong steel choice. My Busse and Busse kin knives are also very well made, I'm currently carrying a SwampRat M6 IWB and a ScrapYard dagger in appendix carry. I will switch between a ASH/M6/and a Mini EU depending on my needs and dress requirements.

As to which is better or a better buy? Both makers make a very durable product and with proper care, should last a long while. 5160 has been used with great success, by many custom makers for years and it continues to be a great hard use steel. The nice Miller Brother feature is that they are willing to work with you on designs and mods in a timely manner. Busse, due to popularity, would be a longer wait for a mod or a custom job. As for the difference between INFI and 5160, there are hundreds of pages in these forums you could peruse to educate yourself. The MBB stock is at .323" thick, so that's something to keep in mind, and Busse has released most models in various thicknesses. The MBB all come with a sheath, and the Busse does not. I like both for different reasons and find that both are very well made products. I like the idea of being able to buy a great knife from a knife maker, who is not yet hugely popular, before that maker's reputation makes their product very hard to obtain. Think about Jeremy Horton. He started out very much like MBB, and his knives only improved over time, as I'm sure MBB will. And MBB is very good already!

So, have you used the MBB?

For the prices MBB ask, I would go with Busse all day long. MBB sales tactics are shady also on eBay....
His designs look good but no way.....

I agree. Don't have a MBB, but I looked at his site a while back, and found the price high for a coated 5160 blade.
I also like Busse's designs alot better myself.

I do like the Extreme Judgement, my friend has one, I have never had the chance to even hold a Busse, I love the looks though.

I am thinking about the MBB M-10, to some the price may seem high but I have had some price quotes that were higher for somewhat less of a knife.

MBB's videos are pretty impressive, well...at least to me that is.

Gravelface, I've used both of the MBB knives. The trench knife and the M7 are both very thick, so your not going to get them to slice. The trench knife is not hampered by that, as I use it for the blunt force impact. And it being thick also helps with that sort of tool. The M7 being thick really limits it, and it seems to be a very sharp spike. My M6, at .25", is a far better cutter, but I needed the M7 for a puncture tool. And it's grind allows you to get the knife very sharp. Both of the MBBs are very tough, but I would expect that from properly heat treated 5160.

well with Busse there is no question about the quality the company or the warranty. Which is not to knock MBB but with Busse you know you are getting a great hard-use knife. And if you ever want something different in the future you can sell it for close to what you paid, or maybe more.

The Miller Bros blades look alot like Mineral Mountain hatchet works knives, same steel...only over twice the cost.

Also for half the cost and the BEST 5160 I have had the pleasure of owning is our very own Bill Siègle!

Now I do have every intention of getting one or 2 of the smaller skeleton handled MBB. Those are just good designs. But for the larger....the scales look flat and uncomfortable....this is just based off looks entirely as I have never held one.

I will leave you to your discusion, but how is selling things on ebay shady? If I have a custom model, or something that is not standard, I sometimes list it on ebay.
Also keep in mind that our prices reflect a COMPLETELY handmade knife. No CNC or computer controlled surface grinders. And also a handmade kydex sheath.

I actually purchased an MBB knife on Ebay and didn't have any issues......what exactly are the "shady" tactics of which you speak?? I found them to be honest and forthright.....couldn't really ask for anything more in my opinion. Now, as to the blade itself?? I think it is a massive hunk of steel that will serve the purpose of toppling a stout oak or shredding a car door with equal facility.....exactly as was intended by the brothers. You can argue the aesthetics of the design, the coated blade or the curve of the handle in comparison to Busse or any other knife.......that simply comes down to personal preference. However, if you are aware of something they have done that is "shady" in this or any other forum then please bring it to the attention of the rest of us. Without details, your post smacks of slander and slander isn't becoming in any respect!

I may feel that your price is a bit high (I've never used one though), but I have never seen you do anything shady.

I carry the mbb m7 on my dropleg holster when I instruct and Allen over and MBB has been a pleasure to converse with over email and was absolutely helpful when helping me decide on which blade to purchase. He even customized the sheath to fit on my safariland platform for no charge, and it came with a HAND DRAWN diagram of how to mount it. His customer service has been outstanding. No I dont use it as a combat knife or anything tactical i refer to it as my "AHHHH GET OFF ME, GET OFF ME!!" cqb knife which for puncturing it bloody excels at, and stabbing the hell out of one of our shoot cars with no damage to the knife was pretty damn awesome too.

Hell why not get a knife from both? And if you dont like one sell it on the marketplace hell, Im sure one of the members here would be more than willing to take it off your hands.
