Millie 1 vs 2 and gooney.

Thank you.
I’m just going to have to try it out :/
I’ve had my eye on crucarta for awhile. Then I was carrying the Millie the other day or so, and it’s just excellent.

Spydie flicks like an auto, it’s so satisfying.
Is the feel in hand similar and action similar ?
tip down carry is my preference so no issue for me.
Sorry missed this earlier. My original the action feels lighter, not the detent (I replace all the stainless detent balls so cant compare the factory action of that) but the way it opens out, like there's less friction on the blade. Its more broken in though so maybe that's part of it. The "thonk" is lighter as well, so I suspect part is also the change in locks. The uncoated is certainly smoother like glass than the three coated ones; I don't have an uncoated 1 to compare.

The hole appears placed the same relative to the pivot and to, say, the axis of the handle, so the opening takes the same movement. The only difference is the original has more scale removed for more access to the hole. The hole is fully uncovered on the 2 as well, however. Hard to say one is feels significantly different than another.

If you want a bigger choil up front, the new one provides that. Me personally, I would take no choil at all if I had the option. Having the longer blade I don't find either to snag on what I'm cutting like a PM2 will do at least.

The bigger opening going for opening and unlocking both, for someone using the knife with gloves, the original is certainly the better choice. Bare hands, I don't see one as functionally different than the other.

kreole kreole well I guess now we're front flipper bros haha. I think the original military definitely would work better but enlarging that choil area actually makes it feel a lot more likely original and I like the way it feels better even if you ignore the fact now it front flips. I think it looks okay to do even with the salt's liner pattern. I guess a knife really isn't yours until you've customized it. I don't think I own a single knife I haven't modified in some way 😂

Here's a pic trying this with the salt scales

Want to say thanks again. Had some extra time and the Salt scales sitting around so tried my hand at the PM2 I always a wanted, skinny and front flipper.

I cut off what I wanted off and then after rounding the edges of the g10, I was pleasantly surprised to see it gives the perspective the end of the grooves are round, like they come from the factory. Not bad at all IMO!

I probably wouldn't have done it without seeing yours first, so I appreciate your trailblazing.

The curve needs a bit more smoothing out towards the butt end, but that's nearly the final product.

Looks good! The reason I wasn't too afraid to try the mod on the salt scales was because I was thinking of picking up a different set of scales anyways but after successfully doing this modification I think the salt ones are here to stay.

As I regularly state, the Military is my #1 all time favorite folder, single position tip down clip and all! It does everything I need and want with perfection. I have probably a dozen of them in various configurations (lefty being my favorite cuz well… Im left handed). I have a single Military 2 (S90V and CF) and feel no desire to buy another, except for maybe the magnacut salt version just because its unique. I would kill for a magnacut salt OG military!

I hope they never discontinue the OG

The OG really was good for me too but I really wish it came drilled for tip up carry. I like the clip there so my fingers have more to grip for added security when opening a knife. One time I thumb flicked the OG and it slipped out of my hand onto tile flooring and the tip got botched up. That was when I decided I prefer the military 2. With the salt scales it's especially locked into my hand.
