Milling guard slots with a lathe?

I have a craftsman 6" little lathe, I have heard tell of being able to mill in a lathe. Is there more to it then using a up/down as my X with a vise attached to an angle block on the carriage as my Y/Z and a milling cutter in the chuck?

I have a Palmgren vice that clamps on a metal lathe and turns it into a milling machine. I bought this 20 years ago and don't know if they still make them. I just briefly checked MSC, Enco, and McMaster Carr, and couldn't find it. They may carry it and I just didn't go to the right place, or maybe some place else has them.

Its called "Palmgren milling attachment. Type this in on one of the search engines and you will get some good information.
