how do some of you hold a blade on the mill,i have a midas 1220 ltd and cant figure a way to do it.maybe you could show a pic or drawing to help.thanks...sean:confused:

One approach that I like is profileing only the belly of the knife at first, so you can leave plenty of steel on the back of the blade to hold onto while cutting the bevels. Once they're finished you can finish the profile.

These are some picts I've taken. There are certanly other ways to go about it.

Thanks for showing us that ,Nathan.Perhaps there are other ways to do that but at least I now have seen one way. I believe it's not how the knife is made but how good it is and looks when finished. I know there are now many who do at least blades on their milling machines and some who do all metal scales there as well. Frank

Nathan is that a Torqcut bridgport?

No, one is a small Dyna with a retrofit on it, the other is a 10 year old heavy Vetrax machine they don't make anymore. I do have a Bridgeport, and I like it very much, it just isn't pictured. Not a "Torqcut" though.

Wow those plunges are nice and neat. Would love to get an old bridgeport to do integrals.
