Dan Schectman, writer for Tactical Knives has reviewed the Survival Bowie and the hatchet set by Mineral Mountain, he gave them high marks.

When you factor in their low cost, and their willingness to do custom work, they make a very attractive knife.

MDP, the Survival Bowie looks like a tough heavy chopper. I did not find the hatchet though (only a cleaver that is interesting). Their products seem to be very strong, all with hollow ground and substantial thickness (mostly .25). There is no flat ground blades ,however, that are favoured by some of us.

The Hatchet combo can be seen on AG Russell's site.

I think that given all the other considerations, I could get past the hollow grind. I prefer a flat grind, but a hollow grind does the trick too.
