Mineral oil vs Vasoline

I use Tuf Glide, which is mineral oil and it is great. It is good for lubrication in the pivot. I have never used Vaseline, but that wouldn't be much different than a good grease.

What, is this true?

The most tenacious oil I've found is 'Pro Link', formulated for lubing bicycle chains.

It penetrates and adheres like nothing else I've tried, providing 60 miles of hard use through water, mud and dust between chain-servicings.

Edit: Available at some bicycle dealerships or via internet: http://phattire1.stores.yahoo.net/progoprolibi.html

Hope this helps!

Does anyone of you have advice what oil to use on knives (folder/fixed) that are used to prepare food?
I mean what oil/lubricant is harmless (edible) and without significant taste/smell (affecting food) AND that doesn't get rancid in let's say month or two?

I have used WD-40 few times, but it smells awfully for a few days and I don't know if it is harmless. (And I heard it doesn't lubricate much (if any) rather displace water.)
I have tried silicone oil (in spray) too, but it's effect is basicly the same as WD-40's (except different smell :)).

Oh, and I would like to stick with some "normal" things (so I can get them locally).
Thanks.

A lot of guys here reccomend Food Grade Mineral oil (used as a laxitive) You can get it in any Pharmacy store. No smell, does not turn rancid & not much taste to even notice. They lube the joints & blade with it. I have been useing it..good stuff.
