mini Alpha Hunter - Buck uses both 154CM and ATS-34?

I really want to pick up one of these mini Rosewood Alpha Hunters, I'm seeing some with 154CM and some with ATS-34. Did they switch over to 154CM at one point, or are they currently being made with both steels?? Which one is preferable?

Buck was using the ATS a year or 2 back? They switched to 154CM, both steels are very similar, but the 154CM is a USA made steel where the ats 34 is Japanese.
I have both, I doubt that you would really be able to notice any difference

I concur with wh4f except where he said "very similar," by my understanding should be say "identical." The only difference is the place of origin and Buck was getting some legal flack over putting USA on a piece of foreign steel (ATS-34) so they switched to the same steel produced in the U.S. (154CM)

Can they be identical if made in different places?

The steel composition is VERY close but I believe that there are minor differences... Either way the end user will never know the difference.
