Does anyone own the mini cold steel bushman? What are your thoughts? Is it worth carrying?

I don't have one, but wanted one when I learned it was discontinued. My google searches showed a lot of people wanted it back.
I would think it a great back up knife for a survival kit.

I have tested several

Sweet Knife

Handle was too small for me

Wife loved it as well

I want one, I have considered chopping down a full size one, as they are pretty easy to come by and cheap. I have had about 5 bushmen over the years, wish I still had all of them. :D

The bushman I have was ordered as a mini when I called they offered me keep it at the mini price . I figured I would order a mini later . When I went to order the mini bushman they were discontinued

It's a great knife for the money and nigh indestructible. I regret trading mine away. There are other quality knives that serve the same purpose in its price range but lack the pimpability factor that this one had. That said:

Let's see some pics......

I have one and have used it a small amount, but never "carried" it. I like it and have often wished it was larger. May be a grass is greener thing. I did wrap the handle to make it fit my hand better. Never liked the bowie version tho, a personal preference.

Bowie version is pretty hideous. I have modded all of mine, stripped and made into a drop point, finger choil added, not sure what I am going to do with the bowie though.

Used to have the middle one as one of the first survival type knives I had ever purchased 10-12 years ago. It was nice and worked well.

Ever considered trading it?

I have a mini from the mid 90's if memory serves. I like it better than the full size version, but the big ones are easier to replace so they get the use and mods. I've had a mind to try and "Trackerize" one of the bowie blades but have not found the right test subject. :)

I had one, and felt it was just too small to perform the role I had intended for it. I still have a couple of the regular ones, and really like them. One stays beside the console of my old 4Runner at all times. In the back, I keep a 5 foot long pole, tapered to fit the socket of the knife. Instant spear. :)

My bowie bushman may get re profiled and become a permanent spear. I really don't think it will ever get any use otherwise.

I bought the bowie a few years ago. I thought it would make a better spear then the standard one because I really needed a spear.
I have never carried it because I have better knives and no real need for spear...yet!

Cool idea though!

I've wanted one of these too. Of course, like many of us, I wanted it even more after I learned they were discontinued. I got over it. A Mora will do you more for a fraction of what these going for now.

Yay! I just got one. Traded a bk14 for it. I have to disagree with the previous statement that a Mora can do more for less. I like Mora's but this thing is a bushcraft tank.

This knife is much heartier than I expected. I have a newer bushman and I more understand what so many people were talking about when they said the bushman regressed some in overall quality.

Great little knife. I am happy that I finally have one.
