I just received a mini Cyclone in the mail today, and I'm quite happy with it. The knife is very robust, with a nice thick handle and a nice thick blade, but it isn't excessively heavy which I like. The speedsafe clicks open with authority, but I like the ability to turn it off if I don't want to draw too much attention. The sharpness out of the box was shaving sharp, but not amazing, so I touched it up on the fine Sharpmaker ceramics and brought it up to par nice and easily. Now this is one sharp knife! I got it rather late in the day and couldn't do much cutting, but it made quick work of a nectarine and some chicken! This is a heavy duty folder for sure, I'm going to have to get to some cardboard tomorrow. For $35 shipped, it was a great deal. I'll get some pics up tomorrow afternoon.

I´m waiting for the pics, Brutus.

I´ve ordered a Mini Cyclone for me too... It will be my first Kershaw.

Here they are:

The liner lock is quite solid and engages well:

The toggle switch that I love, and the stop bar for the blade:

After sharpening it to my standards, it quickly sliced through a large orange (once I had it halved, that is) and a tomato (the tomato was a bit over ripe, so it didn't spread out as nice as it could've, and I didn't slice it as thin as i could've):

I whittled some wood out back, but I didn't get pics. I did get these, though:

A very nice knife indeed!

My mini-cyclone is bar none one of my favorate knives. I fits my hand perfectly and allows for a grip where I really use all its cutting power. It is a great design and I think a testament to Ken Onions great understanding of ergonomics.

Quick and dirty pick of my prized Titanium ZDP-189 version.

Thanks for the great pics!

The Mini-Cyclone is one of the best knives I have ever bought. Enjoy!

Thanks for the amazing pics!

I ordered a Mini Cyclone and a Black Cyclone (not Mini).
I just can´t wait to get them! It will be my first Kershaw!

:D

You are in for a treat, my friend. Those two are so well finished and made, you will wonder how you could have done without them!

Brutus013...may I ask what you used to sharpen the Mini-Cyclone with and since you are taking pics, can you post a pic of that as well..? I am sorta ashamed to admit that I have never sharpened a knife in my knife collection for fear that I would do something wrong and ruin that particular knife somehow...

U-hul!!

I just can´t wait...

They will be here next Tuesday... as soon I get them, I´ll post a "mini review" with my first impressions.

Thanks folks!

Wavester, get a Sharpmaker. It comes with a very good instructional DVD, and its fairly fool-proof. Preset angles of 40 and 30 degrees inclusive. The majority of Kershaws come right at 40 from the factory.

Wavester... I had this problem too. My advice: buy one Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker (sorry for the propaganda here in the Kershaw Sub Forum guys... I´m just trying to help!)

Outstanding sharpener... very easy to use!

By the way... how is the angle for sharpening the Cyclone and Mini Cyclone edge ?

Is this the one you are referring to:

No sorries Federal. Most of the folks in this sub don't go kicking on
other brands and although I don't have the Sharpmaker, there's a
lot
of guys that swear by it.

I use the DMT Aligner Kit and love it. DMT makes some great diamond
stones and they last forever.
