I'm looking for a mini fixed blade that is thin and discrete. I'm willing to spend up to $100 and looking for an overall length of no more than 4.5 inches. Wonky and different blade/handle shapes are welcome. I'll either be necking or pocketing it. If it has scales, they aught to be somewhat thin for easier carry. Good steel is a must. VG-10, S30V, ZDP, D2, etc. No S/W or CRKT.

I've seen a good few on this forum but 80% of the time I cannot find a name to connect with the photos I like. If your suggestion is outside but still near these parameters, I still may consider it!

So:

$100>y
4.5">x

Thanks guys!

Great recommendations so far guys. The TOPS Prairie Fox is my fav right now. Any experience with their steel?

i have a tops knife just for 2 days now, so i cant really comment on the steel
it came really really sharp, and for what ive used it so far, seems like a good heat treat on that proven 1095 carbon steel quality
but i heard good things about tops, from other memebrs here that have used them for longer

If you're on a tight budget, the new AG Russell Hunters Scalpel is now available. AUS10 steel, locking hard sheath, 4-3/4" overall, $20. I carry the older model every day at work as a utility knife, and on the motorcycle. It's a great little design and slips discretely into a pants pocket.

Bark River knives are very nice also, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, but it's becoming difficult to find anything of their's for under $100. And it seems that since they've become more popular, finding their knives in preferred handle materials is also difficult. :( I'm glad for their success though, they deserve every bit of it.

The TOPS Prairie Fox is my fav right now.
That looks like a nice little knife design, and I intend to add some of their products to my Accumulation. But for actual carrying? Nah. The blade coatings, military-esque logos, and 'tactical' handle materials are a bit too Armyboy-wannabe / mall-ninja-ish for me. Different strokes for different folks though...

Happy shopping!

I got this little feller a couple of weeks ago. It's a Les Voorhies Mini mini. I don't know if he has any more, but it may be worth looking into in the "makers" section of BF.

I'm having a hard time finding the Bark River stuff on a site with prices and stock. The handle options are quite overwhelming. Any leads?

knivesshipfree.com

Awesome site I have ordered a ton of stuff from there with great results each time.

Thanks bkrosco. Those Bark Rivers are REALLY nice but at this point in time I'm better served with something I won't feel bad abusing. I'm also looking to possibly make my own scales. In the future though I'd love to get a Bark River micro with a matching fire steel and sheath. That would be a great EDC.

Although Buck and the other mainstream manufacturers offer some nice products, I'm looking for something just a little more unique.

So far my favs are the Nemesis and Tops stuff. Any others like that?
