hi, will a propane torch be able to heat a 9-10 inch billet evenly?

what about some of the mini-forges that ive seen around on the net that use a propane torch for heat? will those be able to heat evenly?

thanks to anyone that knows.

I dont forge yet but will soon I made a mini 3 months ago . I would think you could as long as you use a fan to force the air to super heat. Mapp gas is alot hotter but more money but propane should work.

No, to answer your first question concerning a propane torch.

The mini-forges that you see are generally of the forced draft design. There is a blower on them to increase the heat. There are also the "whisper jet" or farrier forges with naturally aspirated burners however, they don't tend to heat as evenly as a properly designed forced draft forge. Additionally, they tend to use more propane.
