mini fuel source/candle

put this together for my survival necklace:

take one large 2" mini tube:

put a piece of bailing wire into it and stuff with cotton balls or old Zippo felts:
(the wire is to pull out the cotton or felts to use if needed)

fill with lighter fluid and screw the lid with o ring snugly onto it. Place on necklace:

to use: unscrew lid, spark with firesteel and scraper and voila, flame! or pull out one of the cotton balls or cotton felts and use in center of your shavings or tinder.

fyi the old gear was used to prop up the container while lighting.

Baling wire! Man, I'm surprised it took so long before I saw any of that stuff pop up here! Guess there aren't quite so many farmers around these parts...

Seriously, though, how's the rubber in the o-ring of that tube stand up to lighter fluid? I don't know a heck of a lot about this, but I understand that some rubber substances are degraded by petrochemicals.

AAAAAAHAHAHAHA thats not the worst part of the keyboard! this is:

time will tell as to the O rings toughness against petrochems. In any case, I have a friend that works at an aircraft place ands they have nitrile O rings....i may have to bribe him with beer to get me a bunch.
