Mini grip M4 on way

Jmill- One of the members on the forums passed the info to me, the 810 clip will fit if I remember right. It'll go from the three screw to just two, but it works fine.

Hell of a knife for the price if you ask me: high speed tool steel @ 62-64RC in a small, bombproof package with Made in the USA Benchmade quality.

Normally don't go for the smaller knives, but I love the Griptilian pattern and the color scheme rocks! The arrow clip will be replaced by an older parkerized clip and it should be perfect.

Order placed

I have been carrying my m4 mini griptillian since I got it, it's my first and I like it. I have noticed that the edge seems to rust and stain easier than my m4 Gayle Bradley. I wonder if it's the coarse factory edge, or maybe the higher hardness. Has anyone else noticed this?, my Gayle Bradley has never rusted and it has very little patina, the majority is on the blades spine. That's even after cutting limes and raw red meat.

Interesting question. I don't recall seeing any data posted on the Rc range for current GB folders. The early run of GB folders was accidentally run higher than spec'd, 64-65 Rc. Between us, my older son and I have three of those and have never had any corrosion at all on the edge.

I would guess it's due to the coarse factory edge. Just slap a nice mirror polished edge on that bad boy and you should be in business.

I have been carrying mine for five days now and can't say enough good things about it. This is the sharpest Benchmade I have ever had, out of the box. Today I cut up a large bike box. The knife went through it like butter and actually seemed sharper when I finished than when I started. This knife is at least equal to my m390 Para 2, in a smaller package and for $70 less.

#139 arrived earlier this week and I finally got around to unboxing it tonight, really digging the Cerakote blade finish!

Looks like it's gonna push the small CF sebenza out of my EDC rotation for a minute.

Would you sharpen it 30 degrees inclusive?, or 40 degrees? I use the sharp maker with dmt duos against the ceramic rods. Thanks

Just placed an order for one. Anyone have an idea on what and where I can get custom scales for this? Please feel free to PM me. Can't wait til it gets here!

I got mine from Cuscadi. They were a little expensive but they are flawless and worth it to me.

The M4 is a really great steel. Mine came sharp, but a minute on a strop out an amazing edge on it. I am tempted to get more knives in M4.

30 is the most I'd go with M4, I find good performance at 22-24 degrees inclusive, it's good steel, make it work.

Ordered Friday, showed up Monday - fast shipping and great service from GPKnives

This is a departure from what I normally buy (usually 3.5"+ blades), but I wanted an Axis lock knife as a replacement for a recently sold SHOT Show Lum (that one was too nice to carry/use, if that makes any sense). I'm no-frills when it comes to "tactical" () knives – they have to be able to do everything, from harsh, dirty yard work in humid/rainy weather to cutting up some cheese and crackers for a midday snack. I just want a tool that works when I need it to, regardless of the task.

The MiniGrip arrived perfectly centered, smooth, and hair-popping SHARP. Clean bevels and grind lines. Strong lockup in all directions. Great color contrast of the gray Cerakoted blade and black hardwear. The arrow clip (yuck) was removed for a parkerized/oxide BENCHMADE USA clip. The only thing I noticed was a very prominent wire edge that was folded over on the non-presentation side of the blade. No problem - the beautiful aspect of CPM-M4 is the fact that it takes a very keen edge without much effort. Rolled edges and dents straighten-out with very little work on my other CPM-M4 knives, and this MiniGrip responded in the same manner About 10-15 swipes on a medium grit Sharpmaker stone re-aligned the microbevel, and with just a couple more swipes on both sides, it was even sharper than I received it it. M4 loves toothy edges! Mine came with both bevels sharpened under 20 degrees per side - Benchmade is kinda hit-or-miss on this from my experience, but this one will be a breeze to maintain.

For a little over a hundred bucks to your door, I challenge you to find a Made in the USA, harder-use 3" knife in this price range. I can’t think of one.

Good on GPK and Benchmade for making this limited run possible!

Do you prefer the Putnam scales or the Wilkins scales? Putman cheaper ,eaiser to get but most of all I like them way better. I will be selling the wilks grips and ordering another set of blue color from Alan shortly.

How tacky are the Putnam scales compared to the Wilkins? I like the Putnam scales but am concerned the aluminum is not as grippy as the G10. Since you have both, how would you compare the two, if you don't mind me asking? TIA
