Mini Griptilian vs full size

Held both before purchasing and I just really liked the mini. Great useful length and felt good. The full just felt off somehow while the mini sits in my hand like an extension of it. Great little blade.

I like both.
I prefer the large grip because I love how it fits my hand like a glove.
However, I've been looking into getting a Mini.
I have large hands as well and while a large knife fills my hand, I've realized that's more of a preference than a need.
I carry a Large Sebenza and it fills my hand pretty well. But with this, I carry a Curtiss Knives Nano.
On a smaller knife a lanyard can help fulfill that grip that everyone wants.

I would say, try to handle them both and find out which you prefer. Also, some people like big knives, some like small knives, some like both(I fall into this category).
If you prefer a larger knife, get the large, if you prefer a small knife, get the mini. If you like both, get them both lol.

I don't find the balance to be a problem for the full-size Grip. The Ritter makes it even more balanced, being a lighter blade. If I want balance, I'll use by BR Bravo-1.

In my world they are different knives for different applications. In the week, in an office environment, a mini-grip works better for me. It is smaller and more discrete but can handle the cutting I do in that environment (opening boxes, cutting off the hard plastic tape, peeling an apple, opening packages, etc.) - does a great job without traumatizing co-workers too much.

Weekends I carry a larger knife, I like to spend time outdoors so a large Grip works better around a BBQ, trimming branches in my garden and a bit of food prep - nothing that the mini can't do but the large Grip is just more fun.

I agree with the comments on the large not being as balanced as the small and the sound it makes when closing sounds "plasticy" but I can (and do) overlook that because the handle fits my hands so well and it is such a comfortable knife to use (both sizes).

If I had to choose one, I'd go with the mini as I spend more time in an office than outdoors. Having said that, while other, more expensive, knives have pushed mini-Grips out of my "office" rotation, the large Grip fights well above it's weight in the weekend folder rotation stealing pocket time from Sebenzas and the like because of the handle ergos.

Personally, I prefer the Ritter blade on both and of course Wilkins or Cuscadi scales take the Grips to a whole new level (and price point if you are comparing to other alternatives).

Had a full size. Went to pick up a mini because of emence popularity.
Let me tell ya, the mini was way, way, way too small for my hand.
I have Med/Large hands and the mini just felt uncomfortably small.
I ended up buying another full size. LOL
I like the full size for my EDC needs.
So to sum it up, I don't think the full size is too big. It's perfectly sized. The mini...too small.

how about mini-NOTHING

I can't stand the miniaturization of a good knife. I require a minimum of 3.5" blade and a large handle.

personal opinion. Don't get mad. I get that lots of people like little knives for your little cutting needs...

Where's jackknife when you need him?

I prefer the Mini for EDC, but liked the full size as well- except for the "clack" and the balance. Getting the Gold Class Grip solved both problems and got me M4 steel to boot! I haven't tried the aftermarket scales, but believe they fix both problems, too.

A lot of my knives already fall above 3 inches, so as for the Grip, I edc a small at work often. More sheeple friendly and best for my uses at work (opening packages, plenty of carboard, slicing fruit).

Also, I've had extraordinary bad luck with the large and bladeplay. I have had a total of three and they all had significant play no matter how I adjust and how much i break it in, I use bluelube on them which allows me to tighten but its never butter like my minis. The mini-grip and 707 I own however are very solid.

But really, I like both quite a bit...Love em actually. I hope to get one nice and solid lock-up for my collection, but in the end like I said, I got too many knives above 3 inches fighting for attention as it is.

Theres a saying someone said about the Sebenza in this forum that goes something like "a small seb is everything you need in a knife, and a large is everything you want" stated when questions like these arise... I think it applies for the Grips as well.
