Mini-HI July 11th

It looks like i should (should being the operative word) be able to make it at least part of the day on the 11th As of today i'm not planned to be working this weekend.

Do you still need a stump??? The tree is still laying in my backyard. If any of you other Bubba's need one, just grab the chainsaw and cut yourself one.;):D

Looks like i'll be able to make it but only for the morning, probably have to leave by noon. I gota work this weekend again, but i had already told them I had plans saturday.

And yes, i could still use some stumpage. heck and some of the thicker branches if they're still laying around i could chop up and set in my garage to drying for carving wood. I'm trying to learn woodcarving, and butternut is supposed to be a nice wood for carving.

Rick (Stabber) had a camera there I think. Maybe he has some photos he can put up. He and his son, also Rick, welded up some cable damascus and forged out some good blades. The only photos I took were with my phone of the steel I was making. I'll put some up once I find the darn cable to off load them onto my computer.

I brought a camara, but I didn't take it out of my truck at all.

Had a lot of fun, IG made a gourmet dinner Friday evenning. I made a billet of damascus on Fridaym and on Saturday hammered a knife out of part of it, still got enough for a couple more 7" knives. HT'ed at IG's in a brine solution heated about 120oF. RHC today about 54.4RHC, the issue here is that the knife doesn't have a paralell surface on it and you can't get an acurate reading. Most likely it's harder than that, probably around 59 RHC, as that is the typical hardness I get from this type of steel quenched in water.

Left IG's around 2 PM Sat. drove home showered and drove to Groton, CT to watch the fireworks diplay on the Thames River, we watched it from one of the parking lots at Electric Boat. It was an awesome display put on by the Grucci Brothers....excerpt from Tribal News following....New London's fireworks are part of their annual Sailfest event and said to be the second largest Grucci fireworks display in the nation. Although Foxwoods backed out as a sponsor of the Norwich fireworks, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe is a major sponsor for the fireworks at New London. Another good spot to see the New London fireworks on the Thames River is from Fort Griswold, high up on the Groton side of the Thames River.

Linda and I went to a movie Sunday, and after that we took a nice ride, we rode about 80 miles or so. It's good to have a nice weekend instead of rain

Here are a couple of in-progress shots (from my phone) of some of the steel I made at IG's. I sure had a blast using his press (Bertha). THANKS IG!
