My swiss canteen arrived and I'm currently restructuring contents -
so far I had a first aid & stuff combo in a east german army handgrenade pouch.
Now I guess the pouch will be first aid and spare socks, while the swiss canteen will be "other" i.e. different means of making fire, tape, string, aluminum foil, sewing kit, painkiller, medical coal - only a small amount cause I will be taking the first aid kit for any trips outside my direct neighbourhood - a tea candle, 2 one litre zip-loc bags, an old sak and then I've still got some space for either a space blanket or a triangle bandage and some small stuff - and I thought about esbit or something ...

I'll change things around for a bit ...

Wow, just got the notice I'll be getting our new car first aid kit tomorrow (had the chance to get one for free except shipping) so I can raid the old one for my personal first aid kit ...
(There are some bandages that have a use-by date on it in that kit, and those have to be replaced otherwise you can get fined ...)

I have two types of kit - one that resides in a pouch that I put in whatever bag or rucksack I'm taking, and the other one, that I keep on me.

I even have it in my pocket when I sit in my living room. Item one:
Izula (sorry no pics - with wrapped handle)

Item two: a pouch originally made for car keys containing:

GoingGear firesteel and striker. The orange paracord helps finding it and tugging it out underneath all the other stuff.

medication (Apis against those nasty stings, Arnica to help with twisted ankles - and don't say it is a matter of believing if homeopathy works, I've seen it work on cats and dogs) and tinder - there's cotton and twine in that tube, all 3 tubes are held together by inner tube and underneath the inner tube there is a small piece of tinder fungus.
Though I decided the Arnica will go to the first aid and meds section of the other kit ...

From right to left:
whistle, p38 tucked into a section of inner tube, pry bar, tweezers, led-light

All packed up with only the light staying out for use - for carry the light will be inside.

I've used all items frequently, and this is more of a things I want to keep within immediate reach than last ditch kit.
