Mini Mag Lights- anybody own one that actually works?

The only problem I've ever had with a mini maglite or a solitaire is that occasionally a battery leaks and destroys it.

Maglites used to be great, 20 years ago but seems they just have not kept up with the times and improvement in light technology.

I've had a couple of the little Solitare AAA mini-Mag-Lites, and they all suck. I have a Fenix AAA E01 and it doesn't suck.

Yeap. Why bother with Mag's anymore with the multitude of great lights for less money that actually work.

Every single LED conversion I have bought has ceased to work on it's own. I'm done wasting my cash.

By Fenix , you wont be disappointed.

I never had any luck with the mini's or solitaires. The small 2 AA incan lights have always blown a bulb at the worst possible moment without warning. The newer LED versions are great so far.

I used to have tons of them until LED lights became more popular (affordable). Now I keep a 6 D-Cell in the truck (more of a novelty weapon, really) and it works fine - albeit about as bright as a stick candle.

I also keep a AA Mini-Mag in each bathroom in case the lights go out when we are using the bathroom.

I have a Fenix single AAA LED on my keychain which has been absolutely bulletproof since I traded (here) for it years ago.

I've had the dreaded "slap it to make it work" Mag-lites too, though. I still have a Solitaire that is this way.

I mostly use those cheap LED's you can get online for next to nothing. They are stupid bright with regular batteries and so cheap!

Yeah,I have 3 Mini Mags sitting in a basket on the kitchen counter, none of em' work. Two of them have an LED conversion.I'm considering quite seriously going with another brand,I'm a slooow learner.

mine will work for the next 20 or so years.
I replaced the driver with a white 15mm tritium sphere.
Its enough to navigate or ready by in very low light.

i had a maglite solitare on my keychain for a yr or so but got rid of it because the blub was dying fast. all tho oddly, my dad had one on his keychain for 10+ yrs and never had a problem with it.
i have a 2AA maglite and it doesn't work anymore...i'll be sending it in for repair sometime soon. i also have a 2D maglite, and been happy with it so far.
so i guess its the luck of the draw or their QC dropped over the past few years.

Maglites used to be my fathers favorite flashlight for as long as I can remember. Two weeks ago I went back home for a visit and gave him my fenix ta30. He's since bought 3 more to replace the Maglites in all his vehicles.

The last one I bought was a solitaire 10 years ago and I used it maybe twice. I don't remember where I read somebody say " I've seen matches that burn brighter and last longer" but I can only agree with that sentiment. The only one I still have is a minimag with a niteize led drop in...

I hate making generalizations about a brand but maglite sucks. They're expensive and outdated. I can't believe people are still buying them.

Ok whoever has Factory minimag leds that go off and on ,first thing check the batteries on an actual battery tester. Usually the minimag does not give you a visual clue that th ebatteries are going down ,because it is the same brightness til the end. The led goes dead and the battery gets a second wind while there is no draw on it ,so then it comes on the same brightness, albeit briefly, making it look like a loose connection
