While I think that Surefire flashlights are superior, Maglites are not that bad IMO. They have a considerably longer battery life and especially the Mini-Maglite is a good impact device for SD purposes.

I've never seen the NewBeam get lower then 5 stars,
and wonderful reviews!
The L1 chart the numbers are the light output.
The point is the smooth level then drop to WAY down!
IT does make light for 5 hours, Just NOT at full brightest.
If something changed I missed it.

But last I heard the best anyone thinks is possible is 3 hours
running a LS at full out of a 123 Cell. Cool if I'm wrong
