This is my second Spydie, came today after a 15 day shipping period  but - hey - it came :D

My First Impressions / Observations:
- Big, excellently made knife
- Looks like it could cut absolutely anything
- Makes me feel like I could cut absolutely anything when I hold it
- Clicks softer than my Lava on opening
- One handed closing is more dangerous on a Manix than a Lava (bitten)
- Needs time to loosen up
- Didnt like it so much when I first held it
- The more I hold it, the more I like it
- Cant seem to spyder drop the Manix open
- I dont understand why anyone would want a tip down carry??

I carry it tip down, because it keeps lint out of the action, as well as being more discreet.

One handed closing is safe as long as you let the choil close on your finger. It sustantially bigger than all the other spyies I had before, and it took a while to get used to. I love mine now.

The only thing that would make it more dangerous is the fact that the blade is heavier and would make a better guillotine, but the choil area is so big that I don't consider it dangerous at all if you're used to it. You can also just loosen the pivot pin if you want faster results.

Congrats on the purchase, it's one of my all time favorite designs.

I had similar impressions of the mini-Manix when I first got mine a while back. Mine opened very smoothly though right out of the box.

Congrats on a great new knife.

While I can't figure out why anyone would want to carry a knife tip up. Different strokes for different folks.

Some, myself included, prefer tip down because they feel it's safer - less chance of the knife accidentally opening partway in their pocket. Some prefer it because it allows them to grab the knife by the hole and Spyderdrop it open. Some just feel it puts the knife in a more natural position for opening when withdrawn from the pocket.

Further Observations about mini-manix:

- It does cut anything with ridiculous ease
- Its hard to explain around the office that this is your letter opener, even if you do get the odd big package.
- Its weight is really little different to any other folder I have, nor is its length.. but those extra few mm in the width of the handle make it feel big where-ever I carry it
- Having mounted the clip for tip up carry I can now see the discreet advantage in tip down carry.
- I would love to carry it instead of the lava but that seems somehow complicated for many many reasons right now.

I wanted to ask where people find most comfortable to carry the mini/manix?

RF pocket...as far as the office thing goes...do what i do and get your office attached to a factory, and no one would care!!

The Mini is a great knife, I still have it in my EDC. Now days smaller, lighter knives dominate my EDC, but I can't keep Mini out.

Further observations:
- I now understand tip down carry and actually prefer it for the mini-manix!
- After a few bites one gets used to having the fingers high up the handle when one hand closing
- Small adjustments of the pivot pin make for a super smooth action
- It is defintely not too big to be uncomfortable in the front pocket
- It is too big to fit in a change pocket (Lava fits perfectly in a change pocket).

I notice after loosening the pivot pin that the pin itself has a bit of horizontal play - IE you can push the pin flush on one side and it protrudes a little from the other side and then you can push it back across etc. I presume this is entirely normal and expected and doesnt need any special treatment over time etc?
