I have owned the mini manix for a week today and I'm ready to give my 2 cents. I was trying my best to decide between the stretch 2 and this but I liked the ergos and heft of the manix over the stretch.
initial impressions
It has a nice 3 and 1/4" blade with a 2 and 3/4" cutting edge of S30V. The scales are G-10 with skeletonized steel liners and are drilled for a 4 way clip. The knife could shave right out of the box. It's heavy compared to a native or delica but for a knife with a similar solid feel (buck 110, normark lockback), it's actually very light.
Fit and finish
The F&F was good, not super but good, there are some tooling marks on the lockbar and a little bit of steel on the inside of the hole. One scale was a millimeter thicker too.
You can't see all the marks in this pic because I took it from an angle where the G-10 hides it.
Edge retention
This is my first knife with S30V and I was a bit aprehensive of a steel that was supposedly so hard to sharpen and "chips easily". Neither of this is true and I love the steel. It holds an edge extremely well and a few licks on a strop brings the edge right back.
Ergonomics
The G-10 scales are pretty grippy but it doesnt make a difference, the ergos are great so great that the scales could be glass and it would have a great grip. I have large hands and the mini manix fits me like a glove.
Lockup
The manix locks open with a great solid click. You can tell just from the feel that the lock isn't going to fail. There is a tiny bit of up-down play but it's not significant.
Pocketability
The manix is a thick knife but you don't really notice it clipped to your jeans or cargos. The knife also rides nice and low and the black clip blend in nicely with jeans. My only problem is that the G-10 scrapes hard against the back of your hand if you reach down for something else.
Non knife people friendliness
Being 15 years old, I always look for a "cute" knife so as not to draw negative attention to myself. The mini manix it just that, with a short chubby blade and the cute little spydie logo.
Overall
I love it, my favorite folder by far. Buy one while you still have the chance.
Here is a pic with some other common knives and a sharpie for scale.
