mini manix

Thanx, the nypd took my mini manix :grumpy: they were telling me its a gravity knife. I have no Idea what a gravity knife is. they gave me a possesion of knife in public. I want to fight it, does anyone think i have a chance to beat it?
 
You probably can convince the judge that if you approch them the right way. Mini manix works just like any other spyderco knife. Are you sure they ddin't just take it from you so they can keep it? Kinda like when I was young and cop comes and take your booze for themselves.
 
A gravity knife is an out-the-front with no springs. Push the release while the knife is inverted, and the blade slides into the open position.

Sounds like the cop just wanted your Spyder.
 
cops are so sneeky, I would' nt put anything past them. I asked if I' ll get it back, he said no. which i think is bull crap.

I don't know the laws there at all but if it's possession of a knife in public it won't matter if it's a "gravity" knife or not. If there are laws against public carry than that's what you need to worry about. If they gave you a summons to appear I doubt they are just carrying your knife home. It would have to be logged as evidence in the case. I'd find out the laws AND talk to a lawyer in the area. Joe
 
Hi Anthony. Sucks about your knife. It would be helpful if you let us know where you are located/where this happened. Also, how did the police happen upon the knife. Unless you are is a severely oppressed situation (UK) I find very strange that the police would see you with a clip on your pocket, detain you and seize your knife as a "gravity knife".

Finally, assuming everything else checks out, did you get a receipt for the knife, a court date, officer's name, incident report or anything of this nature?
