I can't decide, get a mini mill with tooling or upgrade my Burr King to 2hp variable speed by buying a motor and controller....

What do y'all think? lol

I'm in the same predicament! Everyone told me to scrap the mini mill idea..,unless i was willing to throw money down on a quality american, swiss or german model.so i'm set on finding a way to get me a kmg across the border!:)

Buy the motor and controller. The mini mill will help in small areas but the var speed will dramatically help with your over all control and finish.

I have a mini-mill and use the milling function once in a great while....it's really just a drill press for me. I'd go with the upgrade on the Burr King.

I have a full size mill and usually only make slots in guards and drilling holes. VFD is much better deal i think.

I'm going to get the VS for my baby... Besides now I'm doing folders I'd like something less than 3908709 fps on those small blades, normal duty for it now is basically cleaning up scale and cleaning up my hammering.

I got to thinking is saving 10 minutes to do a guard really worth it? I figure after I spend the time setting the mill up I'd be half finished filing a guard already.

Thanks,

I thought you had a suremak?

I do! But would much rather upgrade to a more rigid/tough 3 wheel machine..,with all the extra goodies :)
