Mini Onslaught 746

I asked BM about the clip, and was told they wanted to stick with Bob's orig design. After that, it never bothered me.
In actual use, its really a non issue.
Just my two.

Any update on the clip mod?
I have the limited edition shot show all black version and it is my EDC. Such a great knife. I want to pick up a regular black/silver but put some stand-offs like the limited edition version has in it. Anyone know where to get either black, silver, or red stand-offs? Thanks.

I have got one full size Onslaught (it's huge!) and three minis, two or them limited editions (shot show and another D2 recent issue). They are great knives. Mini version in fact feels like a regular-sized knife.
I am contemplating straightening the spine on one of the 746, the regular version knife - I think it should look great and also add some variety. Still can not decide if I should go ahead now of buy another regular 746 for that operation. ;)

I think it's a great looking knife. I was surprised it had a Spyderco hole. The only thing I wasn't loving when I handled one is the dramatic taper of the blade thickness. The base of the spine is decent at .114" thick (I think). But then it gets really thin really fast as you go toward the tip of the blade. A little too thin for me. And I would much rather the D2 version.

What is the general consensus on blade color? I want to get a standard production model but am torn between finally getting a silver blade or going with the black. That way I can keep the "special" version a bit nicer even though the clip is a bit scratched already. Speaking of the clip is there a way to paint them so they aren't super shiny chrome? It looks great with the silver blade but no good if you're going for the subdued look.

I also have a 10200SB Ambush which I don't really care for. It isn't an EDC knife and I was thinking about getting a 741 instead.

Other than for looks I prefer satin PE blades, think they look better longer. As far as the shiny clip, dunno about painting them. My solution was to order a plain silver clip from Benchmade and bead blasted the thing. I think it turned out nicely!

The 746 was my first BM, I love it. The only issue I had was that my hands are very large, its like a 3.5 finger knife for me. Which isn't bad, I just had to file down the edge of the pocket clip to make it more sloped. It kept digging into where my pinky starts and hurting before I filed it. The thin, flat ground blade makes for an amazing slicer. I wouldn't suggest stabbing it into anything hard though.

I pulled the trigger on a silver 746.
Benchmade emailed me and said they don't sell standoffs like the limited edition versions. Again, anyone know where to get any?

Got my 746 and it is just as awesome, if not more, than the Shot-Show version. I forsee this being my EDC for years to come. Seems sharper than the black blade version. Total goblin cleaver!
Anyone on the stand-offs? These can't be that hard to get.
