Mini or Mini?

This is my first post, and I recently joined the forum. I've watched the forum for sometime, and I'm really impressed with all of the knowledge of the fellow forumites. I am interested in purchasing a new knife. The two knives I'm interested in are the Spyderco Mini Manix and the Benchmade Mini Skirmish. I am in Law Enforcement and need a knife that will be very sturdy and hold a good edge, because the knives I use take a beating. I know that both knives use the same steel for the blades and both have a good reputation in the knife industry. Please anyone, help me make up my mind, and what are the pros and cons of the two?

I think the grip would be much better on the Manix, particularly in the cold weather. For that matter the lock is probably more secure on the Manix also. Many of the guys that do a lot of pimping really like the Skirmish because of the great platform it has for artistic embellishment though. If you are into that you could sure pick from a number of guys to have it tweaked to become a one of a kind.

STR, I'm not real interested in having a "tweaked" knife, so much as having a knife that I could really use, without worrying about ruining its appearance. Now you have me thinking about maybe having a nice looking knife while I'm off-duty and incognito. By the way? You may be onto something here. Instead of "Pimp My Ride"(the tv show), how about "Pimp My Knife"? Just kidding. Thanks for your input it is very much appreciated.

I am a huge Benchmade fan but... in this case I would go with the Spydie. The 635 is an awesome design but it would not be a good choice here. The titanium handle is not nearly as grippy as G10. I am no expert but in situations where the knife may slide in the hand I want a grip friendly handle. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks and by the way. Welcome to the forum.
