Mine arrived today and I'm VERY impressed.
It's the only Spyderco I've ever seen that comes without a clip.
Also, it's the only knife in their line that takes two hands to open. Maybe some of you can open it one-handed, but the hole in the blade is way too small for my thumb.
This is not a problem or a complaint as I plan to use this little dude and wear it daily.

The fit and finish is excellent. No play in the blade at all.

For those unfamiliar with this knife, here are the specs.
Blade- ATS-34
Length- 1"
Handle- 1 3/4" Titanium
LOA- 3 1/8"

The only concern I had was the size of the neclace itself.Too small and it has a clasp.
I replaced the original with a stainless steel-no clasp neclace that came with a Medic Alert medallion.
To me, it looks better and I'm not worried about it breaking and losing the knife.

This knife will be with me 365 days a year and 24 hours a day. It will mainly be used as a tactical package/letter opener/cuticle/splinter remover.
It will also serve as a test bed for Marine Tuf Cloth because it will get wet and sweaty.
I'll post again in six months with a report on how stain resistant it is.

Bill,
I've had mine since about 2 weeks before the recent Blade show. I too replaced the chain with a heavier more masculine one and then gold filled the "spydie" with Bonanza's kit.
Since I wear a tie to work and now have a beautiful Tie Clip-It in stag, the necklace is worn next to the flesh. No signs of any corrosion and the little bugger has come in handy a few times when the big knife I was carrying was too big for the job.
A very nice piece indeed!

I read Bob's post a few weeks back and copied him, filling in my Mini-Police and my girlfriend's with a Bonanza kit. Really cool! Now I'm wondering about anodizing it...

We also replaced our chains. Has anyone kept the originals? The knife is exquisite - the folks who made it met Spydie quality through-and-through. But the chain is flimsy and thin. I think a knife this nice deserves a better one, or it deserves to be sold without it. No point in paying for a chain you won't keep.

Yeah, I tried to use the one provided, but it broke and I also replaced it. But Bob, is your tie clipit one of the new or old ones ? I have not heard of the new ones being ready.

A friend of mine picked a couple of stainless dog tag chains for me at McConnell AFB PX for .85. These work great for this little Spydie and they fit right into to the Scheme of the Police/Military look of this little charmer.

Brian,

The Tie Clipit is one of the original circa '90-'93 ones with a beautiful stag handle. It was given to me as a gift recently by someone who shall remain anonymous. Boy was I thrilled. It is stunning. I'm constantly amazed at the comments too. Even the check out clerk at the base commissary asked where she could get some. She thought they'd make great gifts for her hubby, son and nephew.
You know I'll be picking some of the new production ones up....not going to be stupid enough to miss out again

Drew,

Glad you are happy with the Bonanza results. I really think the gold "spyder" really sets it off...

Ditto, I replaced the chain (a platinum Thai "Baht" chain) and filled in the Spyder. Now, I wish Sal would do a "dressier" version, maybe 14K scales? No chain, so we can use our own?

I'm suspicious that Danelle picked out that chain

Rust Report.....none !!
I've worn it in the shower and in the pool with no problem.
I must admit I'm amazed. The Tuf Cloth is working.
I expected rust. After all, the blade IS ATS-34.
I'd rather see Spyderco go high chrome (440-C) than produce a decorated model. Just keep it practical.

Got mine recently. It' s hanging on a beefier sterling chain.

Hi Bill. I treated mine with the Tuff Cloth also but am thinking of the effects, if any, of the mineral spirits that make contact with the skin. Sentry does of course recommend washing after skin contact. Any ill effectzz thusssss ffffffffar?

What is Bonanza's Kit. I have the mini police and would like to fill in the spydie so it is more apparent.

Costas,

RE: new Tie Clipits: last I heard Sal was looking over samples produced by the same plant that currently makes the mini-police. Beyond that nothing.

Slasher,

The Bonanza gold fill kit runs around $10, and is available through Brownell's and most gun shops.

I received my Mini Police necklace two days ago. After reading the posts in the Forum I had a heavier silver anchor link chain ready.
I have worn it ever since & it is a great addition to my daily attire.

Even wore it to District Court Friday & it went right thru the metal detector. Thou my
titanium leg set it off as always.(I wasnt the defendent)

2-Week report:
No rust !!!!!!!!
Pretty important for something worn against the skin.
Mine has been packed with soap from showers and generally forgotten while worn.
I'm impressed and frankly admit that I expected rust. Not so.
Something is right with the combination of neglect and the hostile environment it lives in.
Good testimony for marine Tuf-Cloth.
