Well it has been almost a month since I contacted BM customer service via their web form about this issue and still no response. Not very optimistic.

Call Benchmade they seem to be slow responding to emails.

You can always get a new blade for I think $25-30 bucks.
I wonder if they offer the Ritter M390 blades with black coating.

They don't offer Ritters with M390 blades coated. The earlier Ritters in S30V were available coated

Here's the picture from Knifeworks. It almost looks like the blade shape has changed a little bit.

Mr. Ritter says it shouldn't have, so it's possible Benchmade got a batch of them cut wrong?

Get on the phone, it's always faster to call someone than waiting for an email reply.
