Mini Rivets? How to do it?

It's not a knife making question directly but given the world class metal benders here I'm sure you can help.

I want to add a brow plate to my wire mesh fencing mask.
I would have drilled a few holes through the plate and threaded some wires through it and the mask and hoped for the best.

Now I saw something better which I'd call mini rivets. They seem to make a strong connection without messing up the wire mesh of the mask.

To be able to do more research my question is how are they called?

Of course I'd also be thankful for any hints regarding the required equipment and procedure.

The name tag is held on with what are commonly known as "pop" rivets.
Any hardware store will have a rivet gun and rivets for sale inexpensively. Ask them which rivets to get.
