Im getting a 6150 in a trade and was wondering, should I keep the auto, Ive read the laws on them and i can have one but most cops in my area are a little crooked and will keep anything they please... should I keep the knife and try to edc it, and hope that citing the law (which they swear to uphold) back to them I wont get it taken. Im honestly thinking I should just trade it for a regular mini rukus or maybe even a full sized one.... i dont know (i dont even know the going price for one of these knives) any help would be appreciated

PS I hate that the 6150 doesnt have a thumb stud, thats how i open ALL of my other blades and thats what im used to... I think i need a 615 or 610

Well if you hate it and have doubts that you can EDC it (which you probably can't do) then yes you probably should have traded for a 615 or 610 instead.

I Wouldn't worry too much about it. You can keep it locked if you want. most officers won't understand how to open it anyway.;-) What Law allows you to carry an Auto???? Most Cops I've met will keep any nice knife they catch you with, auto or not. They'll say it's a "weapon" and won't charge you if you let them "take possession" for you.

But Honestly, the BM Axis Autos loose the fun auto effect in about an hour. they have NO "Kick" at all. The Manual is just as fast and you KNOW you'll have no "real" legal problems.

I have a valid fishing lisence so while fishing season is still in im fine to keep it on me (same with hunting and traping seasons) and I can always say i was having it fixed or that im in the process of moving and ill be "legal" but that doesnt keep the crooked ones from trying... I think more about it now and I think I should get rid of it...

anyone want a auto mini rukus??

Send it to me and I will forever be in gratitude :D

If you can legally carry it, then you can legally carry it. How many cops do you run into every day that you're worried about losing a knife. No police officer is going to take a knife away from you unless you give them a reason to.

No matter what people may tell you, cops don't go around looking at our pockets, they've got much better things to do.

I've talked with a cop about a knife one time. He saw me using my BM710 at work one night to open a box and said "hey can I see that Benchmade?" I let him see it, and he let me play with his auto BM. We had a nice conversation about knives and that was that.

In 28 years I've never been searched or stopped by a cop for anything other than a license check point.

I was hassled by a pair of CHP officers one night. I was in my local park, that my home owners associtaion dues paid for, smoking a cigar, listening to a station playing all the old Boston tunes. Next thing I know there there, light shining in my eyes.

I say "Whats up docs?" The usual BS that cops do, saying I cannot be in that park, accussing me of having a loaded stogie, etc.

Anyways they look me over, no pat down, ask if I have any weapons. I say no, just a tire thunker in the back and a knife in my right pocket. I hand him my Spyderco Military, he looks it over, opens it, says nice knife and hands it back. He had more of a cow about the stupid wooden tire thunker I bought for $5.00 at a truck stop than about the knife.

Why you got this, he asks, it is a weapon. I say look at my license again, it is a Class A, I drive a big rig. I do not leave it in my rig because another guy drives it at night. He puts it back, says I should go on home now.

Being the wise-ass I am, I had to ask about my rights since I pay dues for this here park.:D He proceeds to lecture me about people sitting in their vehicles at 2 am smoking cigars (guess they thought it was a blunt, as if they could not tell by the smell of high quality tobacco)and listening to loud music.

COPS???:grumpy:

As for autos, some states allow them with little hassle. Oklahoma may not allow it legally, but you can buy them anywhere you can buy knives, including the corner gas station. Arizona allows them to be carried, as do Florida and Oregon. Any others I am not sure about.

The Rukus? I have a full size one for right carry, and a mini for left carry. They are my two favorites, and it is always an eye-opener to pull both out, flick them open, and shut them in unison.

Wow, Im really impressed with this knife, its going to take a little while getting used to deploying the knife by pulling down on the axis lock but I certiantly think i can get used to it with time... my first benchmade was a 672 of iffy quality but this one is really impressive

Daniel, Its nice that you are enjoying the knife I traded you, however since you refuse to answer my emails I am forced to post here. Are you ever planning to send me the Surefire and Benchmade 672 as we agreed on.

Its seems that you have ample time to post here and go on Candlepower Forums but no time to respond to my emails.

This is your opportunity to stand up to your obligations. If you do not intend on sending me the Surefire and BM 672 then send the Rukus back.

Why not compromise and try to get a 615-2? The mini Rukus assist opener is pretty sweet, blue g10 handle. It's my EDC.
