Mini snakewood chute knife

    happy independence day weekend ! here is a just completed mini snakewood chute knife. 3 1/2" blade, 7 1/4" overall. mirror polished cpm-154 blade, heat treated by peters. tapered tang. guard is soldered and pinned. snakewood scales with thin blue liners. stainless guard and furniture. wickett & craig leather sheath. a bead was made with the extra handle material. video link below. thanks for looking.

    What's a "chute knife"?

    I like the tapered tang ala Loveless. I'm surprised the technique is not used more often.

    John, I'm so glad to see this knife, I remember a couple years ago you made one in 1084, and I asked you if you would ever do them in stainless, and you said no at the time... glad to see this!

    What are the defining characteristics of a parachute knife? Wasn't the German 'cute knife of WWII a true gravity knife?

    thanks guys !!! bob loveless and harry archer invented this pattern for the paratroopers in vietnam. they got caught in trees quite a bit and needed a double edged blade to quickly cut through the parachute cord knots and strings.
