Mini SOCOM Elite Manual (Framelock) review, as promised

Excellent review and pics!:)

For those concerned about the screws--check out the Microtech official forum over at KFC. Somebody there is selling the correct drivers to handle the problem. I agree, it would have been easier to use more conventional screws.

Poor customer service. Pocket clips you can't remove without a "mystery tool". Only one manual action folder in their line-up. Microtech is slipping.:(

Why are so many companys making autos anyway? I mean they are for "authorized personnel" anyway right? Most good manual folders open really quickly anyway. Why go to all the trouble of an auto? I wish Microtech would make the full size Socomm in a manual version.

They do. Or they did anyway. I've seen a few full size manual SOCOM Elites around for sale. Just look, you should be able to find one.

Great review.

Thisshould help with the screws, not sure if the guy still makes them.

This thread I found helpful for the inserts (only saw that thread there, didn't see it here).

I also plan to get my own Mini SOCOM elite, SW PE blade and make some inserts out of this.

I've been off this forum for at least a year and a half. It was this knife that brought me back (shame on whoever it was that directed me to candlepowerforums!) after having just seen it on knifecenter.com. I was considering picking up an UMS at the Blade show (its legal to purchase/own autos in GA) but I like this new "elite" version of the mini-socom even better. And it's cheaper too!
