I recently purchased a Mini-Socom Blk,Plain blade dated 7/98. The lanyard attached is unlike any I have ever seen on a MT. It is grey and box braided about 1/2 inch. The lanyard is small grey paracord?

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this and if I possibly have a special order , etc.

The lanyard was on the knife in the sealed pouch when I bought it so I don't think it was done aftermarket.
