Here's one that's almost finished. It was custom ordered and is SOLD.

Just thought you guys might like to see a little one. Steel is 1095, brass liners, nickel silver fittings, premium stag.

Bill,

That one looks great.

Pardon my ignorance, but could you explain to me the function of the hinged fitting, mounted on the bolster? I can't really figure it out.

Edit: Its very early morning here; Could it be the release for the auto action?

The lever is the release to open/close the knife. It's a very simple, safe, and strong mechanism.

It's always a pleasure to see your work. I especially like that little guy. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful recreation of a classic German auto. And what a great size. I have a quick technical question, is the leaf spring integral to the back spring or is it a separate piece? Once again it's just such a pretty piece and what a cool project to work on, thank you for sharing.

Sweet Mr. Bill, am I correct in assuming that the closed length is in the 2 & 3/8" range?

Thanks, everyone!
The leaf spring is seperate from the backspring. The knife is an exact miniature in every detail.
Darrin- yes, 2-1/4" closed. A far cry from the spring you did a while back, huh?

Yeah, you could probably forge about 5 or 6 blades that size out of that spring. I still think about that thing and laugh every now and then. My old computer died and I lost the pic you sent me of the knife it went in. If its not too much trouble, could you dig it up and post it here so I can add it to my hard drive?

Thanks Bill! I just noticed something in that pic that I hadn't noticed before. That thing is also a shell puller! Man, you could pull artillery shells with that thing. LOL
