what benefit can a mini wood lathe have in knife making? handle work wouldnt be appropriate would it--danks markz

You can easily bore center holes in block or round material with some(need lots of travel on the tailstock) and of course you can make round handles for knives and most usefully you can handle all those files you keep stabbing yourself in the palm with. I like round knife handles but I think I'm in the minority here, except on kitchen knives they seem common.

Also you can turn scrap wood no one wants into pens no one wants. :)

I use it for turning sword and dagger handle blanks before I shape the flats in and center drilling them

Has anybody ever tried offsetting the centers to make an oval? I have seen it on chair legs.
